Specifically in dentistry, interocclusal refers to the space or distance between the upper and lower teeth when the bite is closed or interdigitated. It enables dentists to accurately assess the occlusion, or how the upper and lower teeth fit together, and make necessary adjustments to ensure proper alignment and function.
