What is the meaning of Indirect Pulp Capping?

Indirect Pulp Capping is widely used term in Dental Techniques.

Indirect pulp capping is a dental technique used to preserve a tooth with a deep cavity that is close to exposing the dental pulp, which contains the nerves and blood vessels. The procedure involves removing the decayed portion of the tooth while leaving a thin layer of affected dentin above the pulp. A biocompatible material, such as calcium hydroxide or mineral trioxide aggregate, is then placed over the affected dentin to promote healing and protection of the dental pulp. The goal of indirect pulp capping is to prevent further damage to the pulp and avoid the need for a root canal treatment.
