What is the meaning of Hypoplasia?

Hypoplasia is widely used term in Dental Conditions.

Hypoplasia refers to a dental condition characterized by an underdevelopment or incomplete formation of the enamel, the outermost layer of the tooth. It is typically caused by disruptions or deficiencies during the tooth development stage, usually occurring in childhood. This abnormal enamel formation can lead to weaker and thinner enamel, which may result in increased susceptibility to tooth decay, sensitivity, or discoloration. Hypoplasia can affect either a single tooth or multiple teeth and may present as grooves, pits, or irregularities on the tooth surface.
