What is the meaning of Enamel?

Enamel is widely used term in Dental Anatomy.

Enamel refers to the thin outermost layer of the crown of a tooth. It is the hardest and most mineralized substance in the human body. Composed primarily of hydroxyapatite crystals, enamel protects the underlying dentin and pulp of the tooth from mechanical and chemical damage. It is translucent and can vary in color depending on a person’s diet and oral hygiene habits. Enamel does not contain living cells and, once damaged or lost, cannot regenerate. Therefore, it is crucial to maintain proper oral care to preserve the integrity of enamel and prevent tooth decay and sensitivity.
