What is the meaning of Distal?

Distal is widely used term in Dental Anatomy.

In dental anatomy, the term “distal” refers to the direction away from the midline or the center of the dental arch. It specifically describes the surface or area of a tooth that is farthest from the midline or toward the back of the mouth. The distal surface of a tooth is commonly adjacent to and facing the teeth found behind or further away from the midline.
