What is the meaning of Crown Placement?

Crown Placement is widely used term in Dental Procedures.

Crown placement, also known as dental crown installation, is a dental procedure in which a dental crown is placed over a damaged or decayed tooth. A dental crown, also referred to as a dental cap, is a custom-made covering that provides strength, protection, and aesthetic improvement for a tooth that has been weakened, fractured, extensively decayed, or undergone root canal treatment.

During the crown placement procedure, the dentist prepares the tooth by removing any decayed or damaged portions, shaping the remaining tooth structure, and taking an impression of the tooth and surrounding area. This impression is used to create a custom-made crown that matches the color, size, and shape of the patient’s natural teeth.

Once the dental laboratory fabricates the crown, it is bonded or cemented onto the prepared tooth using dental cement. The crown covers the entire visible portion of the tooth above the gumline, providing support and protection while restoring the natural appearance and functionality of the tooth.

Crown placement is a common restorative dental procedure used to improve the strength, durability, and aesthetics of a damaged tooth. It can also be utilized for cosmetic purposes to enhance the appearance of a misshapen or discolored tooth.
