What is the meaning of Proximal?

Proximal is widely used term in Dental Miscellaneous Term.

In dental terms, proximal refers to the surfaces of teeth that are next to each other. These surfaces can be found on both sides of a tooth, adjacent to another tooth. The term proximal is commonly used to describe the areas between teeth, such as the interproximal spaces. These areas are important in dental hygiene, as they are prone to plaque accumulation and can be difficult to reach with regular brushing and flossing.
