What is the meaning of Mucocele?

Mucocele is widely used term in Dental Conditions.

A mucocele in dental conditions refers to a common benign cyst-like swelling that occurs on the soft tissues inside the mouth, commonly on the lower lip or the floor of the mouth. It arises when a salivary gland duct becomes blocked or injured, leading to the accumulation of saliva within the surrounding tissue. The mucocele presents as a small, round, fluid-filled swelling that is usually painless unless it becomes large enough to irritate adjacent structures or gets accidentally bitten. Surgical removal is often recommended to alleviate symptoms and prevent recurrence.
